She was the recipient of the John Houston Allen Humanitarian of the Year Award by Atlanta Interfaith Broadcasters, and she received the Classic Woman Award in 2009 by Traditional Homes Magazine.

Luke Mocke is a South African-born entrepreneur. After years in the Bay Area at LinkedIn, he co-founded 1) the #GetHired Summit to combat unemployment during the pandemic and 2) Mentorli to equal the playing field for underrepresented talent. Prior to his career in talent, Luke was a rugby player, winning 3 national championships with BYU and representing the United States as an All-American. He now lives with his family in Lehi, Utah and plays an integral part of the Silicon Slopes startup ecosystem.

Manuel Rojas Mata is the current coordinator of the Alliance for Biligualism for the Ministry of Public Education in Costa Rica. He has more than 23 years of experience in the process of teaching and learning the English language and works with students and teachers in learning a second language from early childhood to the university level.
Manuel loves every minute of his work and greatly enjoys incorporating different methods and actions to ensure that the proposed goals for the acquisition of a second language are observable, meaningful and well achieved. Manuel gives his best in every initiative he undertakes, always with the desire to contribute to and serve his country.

Joon Beh is the co-founder and CEO of Hallo, a live streaming community for language learning. He worked at Deloitte as consultant in Silicon Valley, helping tech giants such as Uber, Amazon, and LinkedIn. Joon was featured in Forbes and nominated as one of the top 20s in their 20’s by Utah Business. As a Korean immigrant, Joon is fulfilling his American dream and aspiring to empower others to find more opportunities in life through language.

Benjamin Dent is the Co-founder and COO of Hallo – a livestreaming community for language learners. At Hallo, Benjamin leads marketing, growth and product strategy. In just under 1 year, Hallo grew from 0 to 600k app users and built an online facebook group of over 1 million members — all with $0 spent on advertising. In 2019 and 2020, he presented with his cofounder Joon Beh at the Silicon Slopes Tech Summit in Utah. With a global audience primarily situated in Asia, he has extensive experience in understanding people and cultures around the world.
Before Hallo, Benjamin worked at Workday where he helped companies streamline their finance and HR operations. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Psychology and was nominated to pursue his research in genetics and neuropsychology at Cambridge. He finds great satisfaction in working with people that are driven to make the world a better place through technology, innovation, research and education.
Marketing Specialist at
Sophie Hill studied Theatre at Southern Virginia University and is currently studying Political Science at Brigham Young University. She has volunteered at Rising Star India and has seen firsthand the change they make in the lives of thousands. She works at Hallo as a Marketing Specialist and RevRoad as a Business Operations Specialist. She has served in many leadership roles in one of the largest young women organizations. Sophie is an avid traveler and has recorded her travels to over 35 countries around the world. She loves to get to know new people and new cultures.
Marketing Team Lead at
Currently a Communications Major at Brigham Young University, Devin has spent the past 14 months assisting Hallo in turbocharging their organic growth by 50X through creative advertising techniques. He is a remarkably popular ESL teacher with tens of thousands of followers across multiple platforms. Devin lived in Tokyo, Japan for two years where he became fluent in Japanese. He is a talented English – Japanese interpreter with several years of translation experience.
Amber Colvin is the director of Lausanne Learning. She earned a B.A. in History at Lyon College in Batesville, AR before moving to Memphis to pursue graduate work in 2009 at University of Memphis. While working on her PhD in Early Modern European History at UofM, she taught history in various institutions, including Shelby County Schools, Arkansas State University Mid-South, and University of Memphis. Amber has also written articles and edited works on celebrity culture and was a steering committee member of the Inter-Disciplinary.net conference on celebrity for several years.
She’s passionate about helping educators grow and learn. As a long-time educator, she knows that teaching can be exhilarating, isolating, joyful, and so, so hard all at the same time. Her goal is to make Lausanne Learning a place where educators can gather, learn, and share, all while feeling empowered to be the amazing professionals they are!
When she’s not helping educators at Lausanne Learning or reading, writing, or teaching history, she enjoys cooking, knitting very slowly, collecting books to add to my “to read” pile, and hanging out with her dogs, cat, husband, and daughter.
Former President of
Henrick Oprea has been working in education since 1997. He has been actively involved in teacher training and professional development since 2003. He is currently working as teaching and learning coordinator at School of the Nations in Brasília, the capital of Brazil. He also works as the liaison for Brazil and Latin America for KIC UnivAssist, a company that specializes in enabling connections between students and universities in the USA. He’s been a presenter and plenary speaker in national and international conferences. He’s also been a school owner, director of studies, high school principal and university lecturer at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
His main areas of interest are leadership and management, teacher education, use of technology in education, and cognitive sciences. He is a former president of BRAZ-TESOL, the largest association for English teachers in Brazil. He holds a B.A. in English and literature from UnB and a postgraduate degree from the University of Birmingham. He has also authored a series of books for high school students.
His new pet project is a podcast (in Portuguese) about neuroscience in education, which he co-leads.

Previously Pedro started a company in college where he had more than 10,000 monthly active paying users. He is a Y Combinator Alumni, a 40 under 40 founder by Association Magazine, a UK Event Tech Award Winner and a Gold Crocodile Award Winner.

Michael is the Co-Founder and CTO at LiteralApp.com, a literacy app for students and English language learners in secondary education. He is on a mission to create a new generation of engaged readers and believes that reading is one of the keys to successful language acquisition. After initially failing to learn French despite 3 years of classes, he found that he picked up Spanish within several months of moving to Panama. He later graduated with his MBA from ESADE in Barcelona and has applied the lessons of those experiences to Literal in an effort to keep students more engaged as they work towards proficiency. Michael currently works with schools and educators across the US to improve literacy rates through the brain science of engagement.
