Dr. Kathleen Schnier

Former Vice Provost of University of Phoenix

Dr. Kathleen Schnier is Vice Provost at University of Phoenix and leads a division comprised of six departments serving more than 80,000 students. In this role she has directed the areas of accreditation, experience design, institutional reporting and research, assessment, institutional evaluation and improvement, compliance, resolution services, recognized student organizations, Title IX, educational equity, accessibility, and disability services.  Her service within higher education has spanned over twenty years. She currently serves on the board of the Girl Scouts Cactus-Pine Council and is a board member of the Foster Care Review Board. Kathleen is also a She Leads! Mentor/Champion with the Arizona Foundation for Women. She is a certified Title IX and 504 coordinator, a certified poverty coach through the Beegle Coaching Institute, and peer reviewer with the Higher Learning Commission. In 2019, she visited Cuba as a delegate with the United States/Cuba Women’s Delegation with the theme “Advancing Women’s Health and Human Rights.”

Kathleen holds a PhD in Cultural and Educational Policy Studies from Loyola University-Chicago, where her dissertation was awarded “with distinction.” She holds a MA in Sociology from Northern Illinois University and a BA from University of Wisconsin where she graduated magna cum laude. Dr. Schnier is also a Master Gardner through the University of Illinois-Extension and is a Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP) with the Compliance Certification Board.
