Judson has spent 16 years working in English language assessment, teaching, and administration. As Director of Language Assessment, he advances company strategy through developing and furthering innovations in language assessment; working closely both teams in research and development and product. Before joining Emmersion in 2019, he was the Coordinator of Assessment and Technology at Brigham Young University’s English Language Center.

Breakout Session Description: In order to close the global communication gap, there are long standing inequities in language assessment and instruction that need to be corrected. These barriers include restricted access, rising costs and even content bias that perpetuate imbalances in who benefits from gaining and demonstrating language ability. This presentation will survey how AI technologies can correct these inequities and open doors of opportunity for language education and employment wider than ever before. It will also offer ways in which conference participants can join in a democratic digital transformation of language assessment.
